Byrle "Johnny" Edwin Sagraves

   Byrle Edwin “Johnny” Sagraves, 84, of Portsmouth, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Heartland of Portsmouth. He was born June 30, 1933 in Wheelersburg, a son of the late Estel J. and Minnie Irene Houck Sagraves.

   Johnny was employed for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 33 years and he retired as an inspector for District #9.  He was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School and a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church where he served on the building committee. Johnny was also a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge F&AM and a member of the Scioto County Democratic Hall of Fame.

   Surviving are his wife Anna Louise Buckley Sagraves, whom he married July 27, 1955 in Portsmouth; a son, Daniel Edwin (Barbara) Sagraves of Fairview Park, OH; a sister, Lillian Gary of Melbourne, FL; and two grandchildren, Jonathon P. Sagraves and Kelsey A. Sagraves.

   In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by the grandmother who reared him, Amanda Sagraves.

   Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Greg Carter officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park.

   The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to services Monday. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Aurora Masonic Lodge Sunday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
