Jessie Belle (Bowles) Drake

Jessie Belle Drake, 83, of Lucasville, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Edgewood Manor in Lucasville. She was born March 4, 1934 in Wheelersburg, a daughter of the late Pearl and Avenal Reed Bowles.
   Jessie was a retired claims manager for the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation and she was a 1952 graduate of Bloom Vernon High School. She was also a graduate of the former Portsmouth Interstate Business College.
   Her husband, James Paul Drake, whom she married April 25, 1964 in Portsmouth, preceded her in death October 23, 2012.
   Surviving are her daughter, Jami Sue (Edward) Wise of Lucasville, with whom she made her home; a sister, Caroline Wright of Akron; a grandson, Paul Edward (Brittany) Wise; and two great-grandchildren, Harlee Rose Adams and Jesse James “JJ” Edward Wise.
   Graveside services will be held at 11 am Monday at Rushtown Cemetery with Chaplain Jason Coriell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
