Anita Lorraine Staker, 97, of Sciotoville, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, George Victor “Vic” Staker and daughter, Vicki Ann Moeser.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen (Fred) Fitzer of Worthington; son, George Victor (Pauletta Reed) Staker of West Union; and grandchildren, Anne Yates, Lori Staker (Jon) Bedick, Derek Fitzer and Mark Fitzer.
She was born August 28, 1919 in Sciotoville to the late Edward Alva and Esther Joanne Wheeler Smith. She was a 1937 Portsmouth East High School graduate. Lorraine was also preceded in death by six siblings, Raymond, Stanley, Lillian, Lenore, Louise, and her twin, Lorena.
Lorraine was devoted to her family, church and home. She is remembered for her many years of service as organist and choir director at St. John Lutheran Church and she was also a charter member of the former Women’s Missionary Society. Lorraine also shared her love of music as a piano teacher to students of all ages.
Lorraine’s thoughtful, caring ways touched all who met and knew her. She expressed a loving and thankful spirit that was a light of hope to all. She will be missed more than words can say.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Powellsville with the Rev. Carl Beck officiating and interment in St. John Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
