Margaret Ann McCoy, 85, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Wheelersburg. She was born February 20, 1932 and raised in North Moreland by her parents, the late Harry Gamble and Amanda Adkins Fannin.
Ann retired from the Portsmouth City Schools after 35 years, working primarily at the former Lincoln School. She was also an employee of the former Ohio Consolidated Telephone Company and Mitchellace, Inc. of Portsmouth.
She was a 1950 graduate of Portsmouth East High School and attended Christ’s Community Church. Ann was a Board of Elections poll worker, and she had resided at River Bend House in Wheelersburg for the past three years.
Surviving are her daughter, Angie (Jon) Brenner of San Diego, CA; her son, Bob (Kim) McCoy of Aurora, OH; one sister, Mary “Jane” Fannin of Proctorville; four grandchildren, Samuel McCoy, Pierce Brenner, Katie McCoy and Lauren Brenner; and many nieces, nephews and their families, as well as many special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death July 23, 1991 by her former husband of 22 years, Harry Robert “B.I.” McCoy; her friend and companion of many years, Homer Greenslate; six brothers, Burchell “Burch”, Beecher, Talmadge, Claude, Quentin and David Fannin; and two sisters, Nellie “Nell” Upton and Betty Jo Mault.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Minister Scott Rawlings officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Saturday.
The immediate family extends sincere thanks to the many extended family members, friends and caregivers who took such loving care of Ann for the past several years
