Patricia Carole “Pat” Horsley, 71, of Portsmouth, a long time Lucasville resident, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at Hill View. She was born Feb. 3, 1946 in Portsmouth, a daughter of Roy Harold O’Doherty of Portsmouth and the late Rosamond Violet Boldman O’Doherty.
Pat was an active member of Central Church of Christ and a 1964 Clay High School graduate. She received a Bachelor of Education degree from Ohio University and taught in Key West, FL, Newport, RI, Clay and Wheelersburg elementary schools. She retired in 2001 from the Western Local School District where she had taught kindergarten.
In addition to her father, Roy O'Doherty, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond Horsley, whom she married June 16, 1968 in Portsmouth; two sons, Mark Alan (Adrienne) Horsley of Dayton and Matthew Eric (Whitney) Horsley of Portsmouth; a brother, Roy Lynn "Mike" (Camilla) O’Doherty of Novi, MI; four grandchildren, Heidi (Jesse) Whitaker, Allena “Laney” Walker, Lauren Walker and Marcus Raymond Horsley; one great-grandson, John-Ivan Whitaker; a lifelong friend, Alice Lynn Neal of Sun City, FL; and special cousins, Terri Boldman and Bev Merideth of Minford.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Andy Dawes, Minister, officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
