Raymond Edward Atkins

   Raymond Edward Atkins, 74, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at  Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born December 24, 1942 on Carey’s Run to the late Elmer Stephen Atkins and Margaret Brown Grumme.

   Raymond was a retired heavy equipment operator working out of the I.O.U.E. Local #18 in Columbus and attended the Catlettsburg Pentecostal Tabernacle

   Surviving are his son, Raymond Gregory Atkins of Stout; a daughter, Angel Rae Ali of McDermott; four grandchildren, Dustin Dalton, Dakota Dalton, Alia Ali, Samantha Atkins and one great-granddaughter, Scottlyn M. Dalton.

   In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta Lynn Atkins; and nine siblings, Dorsey, Phillip, Orville, Elmer, Floyd and Catherine L. Atkins, Connie Sowards, Bessie Jarvis and Minnie Lewis.

   Funeral services will be held  2 p.m. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dean Kuhn, Minister, officiating. Interment will be in the Mershon Cemetery.

   The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. on  Saturday at the funeral home.
