William Paul Meixner, Jr., 74, of Portsmouth, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his home. He was born June 21, 1942 in Portsmouth, a son of the late William Paul and Audrey Grace Scott Meixner, Sr.
Bill retired as a detective after 27 years with the Portsmouth Police Department. Following his retirement, he worked for 12 years with the Division of Liquor Control for the State of Ohio. He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #33. Bill was also a 50 year member of the Aurora Lodge F&AM #48 and a 1960 Clay High School graduate. He had attended Ohio University-Portsmouth.
Surviving are his fiancée, Maxine Joan Phillips of Portsmouth; three sons, William Scott (Karen) Meixner of Las Vegas, NV, Paul Jeffrey (Heather) Meixner of Creedmoor, NC and Timothy Robert (Toby) Meixner of Bellebrook; his daughter, Lisa Gayle (David) Roback of The Plains; his sister, Melinda (Frank) Brisker of Cincinnati; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Dr. Wayne Young officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4 to 8 pm and one hour prior to services Sunday. An honor detail will be offered by members of the Portsmouth Police Department.
