Virginia Caber Wisener, 82, of Portsmouth, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at her home. She was born November 22, 1941, in Calbayog City, Philippines, the daughter of the late Narciso S. and Eleuteria Roxas Caber.
A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Virginia’s priority was spending time with her family. She married James Frederick Wisener on July 4, 1966, in San Andress, Manilla, Philippines, and they were married for 53 years at the time of his death on November 20, 2019.
Virginia worked for Aramark and as a nurses’ aide at Hill View Health Care, and enjoyed doing karaoke with her husband, Jim. She and Jim also enjoyed time with friends at the James Dickey Post #23 American Legion, where Virginia was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her four sons, Roger (Stephanie) Ygbuhay of Albuquerque, NM, Armando (Claudia Mesa) Ygbuhay, Jonathan E. (Jill) Wisener of Fairfax, VA, and Christopher G. (Shelly) Wisener of Minford; her two daughters, Michelle (Tony) Hamilton of Tampa, FL and Ann Marie (Kanawha) Thornsberry of Waverly; two brothers, Felix Caber of San Diego, CA and Mateo Rocas of the Philippines; two sisters, Simeona Sanchez of the Philippines and Lanie Rocas of Portsmouth; 27 grandchildren, Theodore, Katherine, Eric, Armando, Jr., Joseph and Holly Ygbuhay, Brett, Aaron, Sydney, Nicholas and Joshua Wisener, Alexis Niziol, Skyler Wisener, Kerrigan and Kendall Carver, Alex and Nick Hamilton, Morgan Wisener, Lexy Patterson, McKenzie and Zackary Traylor, Bryson, Garrett and Jase Hurd, Faith and Kaden Thornsberry and Kayne Jordan; and many great-grandchildren.
Virginia was also preceded in death by siblings Mike Caber, Narciso Caber, Jr., Antonio Caber, Alfredo “Luming” Caber, Lucy Caber Edwards, Solidad Rocas and Merlinda Rocas.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 P.M. Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with interment in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 11 A.M. until the funeral service.
