Alvetta Jean Patrick

   Alvetta Jean Patrick, 82, of Portsmouth, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Crystal Care Center in Portsmouth. She was born July 11, 1935 in Portsmouth to the late Kathryn Felty Williams Newman.

   Alvetta was a member and former Sunday School teacher at Central Church of Christ and a 1953 graduate of Minford High School. In 1956, she graduated from the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and she was employed at Mercy and SOMC as a registered nurse for many years. She worked as head nurse in the nursery and orthopedic care units, started the central scheduling department and supervised registration. Alvetta also served as a patient representative in the emergency room.

   Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Raymond Patrick, whom she married Feb. 16, 1957 in Portsmouth. Also surviving are her daughter, Beth Patrick of Portsmouth; three brothers, Roger Williams of Orrville, Bill Williams of Las Vegas, NV and Steve Williams of Oak Hill; two sisters, Barbara Whitaker of Minford and Erin Williams of Florida; three grandchildren, Christopher, Drew and Lacey Hill; her sister-in-law, Janet Kidd and her daughter, Jody Kidd, both of Portsmouth; and her beloved dog, Annie.

   In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Williams.

   Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at the  Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Burial Park.

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Friday.
