Betty Jane (Basford) Boyle

   Betty Jane Boyle, 77, of Centerville, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home. She was born May 26, 1941 in Lewis County, KY, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Norene Underwood Basford.

   Betty was a 1960 Portsmouth West High School graduate and of the Methodist faith. She worked as General Manager for the former Rosemount Ponderosa and she was a 50-year Order of Eastern Star member.

   She was preceded in death February 14, 2009, by her husband, Charles Rodger “Pete” Boyle. They were married May 19, 1960 in Maysville, KY.

   Two daughters, Kimberlin Ruth Bocook of Centerville and Shari Lynn Coleman of Otway; two sisters, Joyce Hopkins of Columbus and Connie Hayden of South Shore, KY; four grandsons, Joshua and Clint Bocook, Alex and Justin Coleman; and two great-grandchildren, Ave and Beckham Bocook, survive Betty.

   She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Edward Basford.

   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Perry Prosch officiating and interment in the Boyle Family Cemetery in Greenup, KY.

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Saturday. An Eastern Star Service will be held Friday at 8 p.m.
