Bryon Nathaniel Underwood, Jr., 25, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born Sept. 30, 1991 in Portsmouth, a son of Bryon Nathaniel Underwood, Sr. of Tulsa, OK and Maria Lynette Ronny Mock of Blacklick, OH, who survive.
Bryon was a Christian and a member of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons Local #132. He had attended Shawnee State University, Aims Community College in Colorado, and Virginia University of Lynchburg where he played football. Bryon had also played semi-pro football for the former Portsmouth Stealths.
Bryon was the loving husband of Jessica LeeAnn McAleenan Underwood, whom he met in 2007 and married in Greeley, CO on July 16, 2011. He is also survived by his children, whom he loved and adored, Isaiah Nathaniel Adelbert Underwood, Sterling Channing Underwood, Bryon Nathaniel Underwood III, Araiya Bryonna Blue Underwood and Ryleigh LeeAnn Underwood, all at home; three brothers, Hakeem Ronny and Markel Tatum, both of Blacklick, Kim Bryon Underwood II of Tulsa, OK; and two sisters, Ramaya Ronny of Blacklick and Tanaia Underwood of Portsmouth; his stepfather, Joseph Mock of Blacklick; and grandparents, Laverne Underwood of Portsmouth, Helen Pearson of Columbus and Christopher Gray of Cleveland.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Living Faith Temple with Rev. Vincent Kennedy, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
