Diane Ruth (Scott) Gavorcik

    Diane Ruth Gavorcik, 80, of Groveport, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017 at the Arbors of Carroll in Carroll, Ohio. She was born in Portsmouth, Apr. 2, 1937, a daughter of the late William Thomas and Olive Faye Russell Scott. She was retired from the Big Bear Credit Union in Columbus and had formerly worked at the Atomic Credit Union in Portsmouth. Diane was a 1956 graduate of PHS and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Portsmouth Trojans fan. She was also a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ.

    Diane is survived by her husband, James Joseph Gavorcik, whom she married in Greenup, KY in 2001. Also surviving her are two stepsons, Christopher Alan (Anne) Gavorcik of Groveport and Stephen Lloyd (Marcia) Gavorcik of Columbus; 4 grandchildren; and several cousins in the Portsmouth area. Diane is also survived by her two nephews, Jim (Dana) and John (Michelle) Scott; and her sister-in-law Peggy Scott.

    Diane was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Scott (her twin) and James David Scott.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 A.M. Thursday until the funeral hour. The Rev. Ryan Brown will officiate the services with interment following in the Greenlawn Cemetery.
