Dolores Ann Zirkles, 80, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Crystal Care Center in Franklin Furnace. She was born August 29, 1936 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Roger Harold and Pearl Louise Titus Kempton.
Dolores was an award winning sales associate at the former Marting’s Brothers Department Store where she worked in the Women’s and Bridal departments. She was also a member of Christian’s Beyond Christ church, but her main focus was her family. Family events were always centered in the home she made with her husband Nova. She enjoyed having family close and took care of those around her. Dolores was also a talented seamstress.
Surviving are her husband, Nova Eugene Zirkles, whom she married October 13, 1992 in Greenup, KY; her son, Jay Russell Greenhill of Minford; her daughter, Crystal (Darrin) Morgan of Minford; step-daughters, Carol (Max) Hanning and Debbie (James “Butch”) Holbrook, all of Lucasville; a brother, Norman Eugene Kempton of Mansfield; a sister, Janet Kay Hitte of Riverside; a granddaughter, Brittany E. Greenhill of West Portsmouth; and several nieces, nephews and their families, including special nephews David and Roger Hitte, and Jeff and Kevin Kempton.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lacie Greenhill Rodriguez; siblings, William Roger Kempton, Jackie H. Kempton and Nancy L. Kempton; and nephew, Craig Kempton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Nelson Klaiber officiating and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Thursday.
