Kenneth M. Green, 72, of Rosemount, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the SOMC Emergency Room. He was born August 15, 1945 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Walter Henry Dewey and Nettie Kari Austin Green.
Kenny was a member and former union steward for Sheet Metal Workers Local 24 and a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran. For his service, Sgt. Green received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two Stars.
Kenneth was a member of Calvary Chapel and a former trustee for the B.P.O. Elk’s. He was also a member of the James Dickey Post #23 American Legion and had served on it’s Honor Detail.
Surviving are his wife, Jolene Victoria (Storts) Turner Green, whom he married September 20, 2015 in Portsmouth; a son, Scott Green of Minford; a daughter, Kari (Anthony) Raines of Rosemount; a stepdaughter, Cheryn (Rich) Myers of Sagamore Hills; a sister, Kathryn Green McCleese of West Portsmouth; one granddaughter, Jadyn Green; and three step-grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob and Lilyanne Myers; a special niece, Susie Davis; and other beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Walter H.D. Green, Jr. and Evelyn Keller.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Joe Bruch officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park. The James Dickey Post Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
In honor of Kenneth’s service to our country, the flag of the Marine Corps will fly at the funeral home.
