Leonard Calvert Tolliver, Jr., 84, of West Portsmouth, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 at SOMC. He was born in New Boston ,June 16, 1933, a son of the late Leonard Calvert Tolliver, Sr. and Alice Gayheart Kinder Blanton Tolliver Driscoll. Leonard was a Christian, a Korean War Navy veteran where he earned the Navy Occupation Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal, a member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion and was a 1952 graduate of PHS. He also was an entrepreneur and had retired after 40 years as a real estate broker in Frederick, MD.
Leonard was also preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Lundine Tolliver; one brother, Jerry Tolliver and one half-brother, Douglas Blanton. Surviving are several cousins; Bob (Betty) Romanello of Indian Land, SC, Jill D. (Rick) Romanello – McCleese of Pedro, Beverly (Marvin) Pertuset of McDermott, Greg (Karen) Romanello, Joseph (Angel) Romanello both of Minford, Roger L. Phillips, Amanda Phillips, Matthew (Cynthia) Phillips all of Portsmouth, Emily Phillips of Miami, FL, Virginia Tolliver of Otway, Rick (Marcia)Tolliver of West Portsmouth,, Shelly (Keith) Hackworth of Blue Creek and their families.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 P.M., Dec.19, 2017 at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth where the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 AM until the funeral hour with Chaplain Larry Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Burial Park.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
The flag of the U.S. Navy will be flown at the funeral home on Tuesday honoring Mr. Tolliver's service to our nation.
