Marion Lois Parker, 82, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 20017 at her home. She was born June 6, 1934, a daughter of the late Carl Parker and Margaret Ross Parker Ferguson, Sr.
   Marion was a 1952 graduate of Portsmouth High School and she received her undergraduate degree from Central State University. She then attended Ohio University and received a Masters of Education degree. She retired after 34 years of teaching in the Portsmouth City Schools, where she taught at Scudder and Lincoln Schools. She was a life long member of Allen Chapel AME Church where she served as organist for 50 years.
   Marion was a member of AAUW, Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma and Portsmouth BPW. She was the BPW Woman of the Year in 1999.  A lifetime member of the OEA and NEA, she was a former member of Alpha Kappa Alpha and the Portsmouth Little Theater Board of Directors. Marion was also a world wide traveler.
   Surviving is a special niece and caregiver, Lorna P. Ferguson of Zanesville; a sister-in-law, Josephine Ferguson of Chillicothe; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
   In addition to her parents, Marion was also preceded in death by nine brothers, Carlos Parker, Ronald Parker, Lloyd Parker, Albert “Boo” Parker, Norman Parker, Robert Ferguson, James E. Ferguson, Carl F. Ferguson, Jr., Orville Ferguson, Sr.; four sisters, Imogene Ferguson, Ople Bullard, Doris Smith and Jackie Lilly.
   Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Harold Bell and Elder Ralph Clay officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
   The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and one hour prior to services Monday.
    The family extends sincere thanks for the excellent care given Marion by Dr. Jitendra Patel and staff, Dr. Marcia Smith and staff, Dr. Charles Wong and staff, Heartland Hospice, nurses Jennifer and Rhonda, and caregivers Tina and Anita.
