Mary Jane (Taudte) Mell

   Mary Jane Mell, 88, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Hill View Health Care. She was born March 1, 1929 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Dillon Lee and Ruth Moye Taudte Bond.

   Jane was a retired secretary, having worked for several local businesses. She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and a 1947 graduate of Dormont (PA) High School.

   Preceding her in death June 8, 2017 was her husband, Stewart Aurin Mell, Jr., whom she married in Dormont on May 2, 1953.

   Surviving are two sons, Gary (Jan) Stewart Mell of Hilliard and David Lee (Mary) Mell of Flatwoods, KY; her daughter, Leslie Jane Clifford of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren, Erin Greene, Michelle Mell, Drew Mell, Kathryn Holt, Daniel Mell, Sara Covert and Thomas D. Clifford; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Greene and Larkin Covert.

   Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Greg Carter officiating.

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11 am until the funeral hour.

   Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pittsburgh, PA at 2 p.m. Monday, January 15 with Rev. Eric Hertzog officiating.
