Carol Jane (Hill) Gleim

   Carol Jane (Hill) Gleim, 78, of Wheelersburg, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. She was born September 7, 1944 in Ironton, a daughter of the late Ralph N. and Claire R. (Bussey) Hill.

   A former member of the Coal Grove Memorial United Methodist Church and most recently a member of St. John Lutheran Church, she was a 1962 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School where she was salutatorian and a member of many activities. After high school, she received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and a Masters degree from Marshall University.

   Teaching English for the Wheelersburg Local School District, Carol served on several county curriculum committees and was a cheerleading sponsor. She retired from teaching in 1997 with 31 years of experience. In addition, she was a member of several organizations including the Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary society for women educators, the Scioto County Retired Teachers Association, and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.

   She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Galen Hartman Gleim. The couple was married on August 9, 1969 in Coal Grove. Also surviving is her daughter, Julie Anne Gleim, of Wheelersburg; and several other family members and dear friends.

   Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Brent Cavendish officiating and interment in the St. John Cemetery.

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. and one hour prior to services Thursday.
