Carolyn Ann Lynch
Carolyn Ann Lynch, 90, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at Hill View Health Care. She was born November 15, 1932, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late John Dent and Lillian E. Wilson Rowson.
Carolyn married Thomas Francis Lynch, also of Portsmouth, on November 11, 1958. This special couple attended Holy Redeemer Church and were blessed to be married for 62 years at the time of Tom’s death on January 7, 2021.
Following her 1950 graduation from Portsmouth High School, Carolyn began her professional career at the Portsmouth office of Standard Oil Company. When the company moved their office to Cleveland, she began working for the Portsmouth Daily Times. She then became a licensed Property and Casualty insurance agent and worked at the Portsmouth Insurance Company until her retirement. Along with her family and church involvement, Carolyn also enjoyed spending time playing cards with her lifelong friends of The Crazy Bridge Club.
Surviving are her sister, Sue (Charles) Herrmann and sister-in-law, Cathy Lynch Meyers, all of Portsmouth; her cherished nieces, Jodi (Thomas) Ruppelli, Julie (John) Voorhies, Andrea (Matthew) Schneider, Carrie (Jason) McMahon and Erica (Jason) Layne; great nieces and nephews, Jordyn and Jake Ruppelli, Brandon (Kat) Voorhies and Connor (Maddie) Voorhies, Abigail and Andrew Schneider, Chase and Ella McMahon and Grant and Caleb Layne. Carolyn, lovingly referred to simply as “Aunt Carrie”, will be greatly missed.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Carolyn was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, John D. & Judy (Cook) Rowson, and brother-in-law, Ron Meyers.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10 A.M. at Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 6 P.M.at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
