Clarence “Clay” Junior Large, 62, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was born November 27, 1960, in Winchester, KY, a son of the late Ruby Jean Large Holsinger.
Clay was a retired over-the-road truck driver from APT of Chicago, and a construction laborer. He loved baseball and both coached and umpired Little League baseball. Clay was also an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed taking his grandchildren on adventures fishing, hiking and hunting when he could.
Surviving is his fiancée’ of nearly 40 years, Dorrie Ann Belford; a son, Joshua Clayton Large of Portsmouth; two daughters, Crystal and Tiffany; a sister, Tammy Lowry of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Jeremiah and Maeson Scott, Kimber Michelle and Piper Rayann Large; special grandchildren, Andrew Smith and Cody Price; step granddaughter, Georgia Bassett; and four great-grandchildren, Rebel, Milann, Legend and Sparrow Scott.
In addition to his mother, Clay was also preceded in death by the grandparents who reared him, Clayton and Celia Grace Large.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 A.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating, and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
