Daniel Dee Adkins, 90, of Portsmouth, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Best Care Health & Rehab in Wheelersburg. He was born in Portsmouth on November 21, 1934, to the late Fred and Maryland Collier Adkins.
A 1952 Portsmouth High School graduate, Daniel worked as a chemical engineer at the Piketon Atomic Plant for many years. A military history buff, he especially enjoyed learning about military aircraft in his free time.
He was preceded in death on December 4, 2021, by his wife, Nancy Carolyn Storey Adkins, whom he married in 1956 in Greenup, KY.
Surviving is his son, Bruce Daniel Adkins of Portsmouth; a daughter, Kathy (Bruce Clark) Throckmorton of Wheelersburg; two granddaughters, Stacey (Eric) Croasmun and Erica Adkins (Jordyn) Bennett; and one great-grandson, Jacob Croasmun.
Daniel was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeri Adkins; and four siblings, Robert Adkins, Oda Meyers, Nancy Davidson, and Sue McFarland.
Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
