David Homer Childers

   David Homer Childers, 64, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He was born December 15, 1958, in Portsmouth, to Joyce Ann Ward Childers, who survives, and the late David Aaron Childers,

   Dave retired from the Boilermakers Union Local 105 in Piketon and was proud to have received a pin for 40 years of service. A 1977 Portsmouth High School graduate, he enjoyed gardening and cheering on the OSU Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. Dave attended Rubyville Community Church.

   Surviving is his mother, Joyce Ann Childers, with whom he made his home; two siblings, Randy (Susie) Childers and Diane (Rick) Daniels), all of Minford; a daughter, Chelsee (Dylan) Brown of Kingston; four grandchildren, Landon, Avery, Colson and Willow Brown; and several nieces, nephews and their families.

   Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Calvin Ray Evans officiating and interment in Friendship Cemetery. 

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
