Elbert Samuel Hamilton

   Elbert Samuel Hamilton, 78, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at his home. He was born January 5, 1945, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Samuel Richard and Iolean Nealis Hamilton.

   Sam worked for AK Steel for 13 years and served in the National Guard. He was also a 1964 Portsmouth High School graduate.

   His wife, Bonnie Henrietta Harrison Hamilton preceded him in death on April 3, 2010. The couple was married in Portsmouth on November 2, 1967.

   Surviving Sam are several nieces, nephews and their families.

   Also preceding him in death were siblings, Claude F. Hamilton, Sr., Robert, Richard, Willard, Denny, Estil, and David Hamilton, and Nevada Hines.

   A Memorial Service will be held at noon, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
