George Blanchard, 90, passed away on March 31, 2023 of heart failure. He was born on May 15, 1932 in North Syracuse, New York, the son of Donald Moyer Blanchard and Bertha Ladd Blanchard.
George was married to Mary “Kessie” Blanchard for 63 years when Mary passed away from dementia in Middletown, CT on December 8, 2021.
George retired from the New York Telephone Company in 1986 where he was a manager in the coin collection department and moved to Durham, CT with his family. He resided there until November 2020 when he moved to South Shore, Kentucky with his son, Kirt.
George was a Navy Korean War veteran, a mason, and was passionate about carving birds and fish to give as gifts which he did until his passing. George and Kessie loved bowling, snowmobiling, skiing, golfing, and traveling to South Carolina and Florida during the winters in their later years. They enjoyed living on Sandy Pond, New York in the summers for 35 years.
Surviving George are his three children: Ann (George) Mahalik of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Karen (Steve) Wetherell of Middletown, Connecticut; and Kirt Blanchard of South Shore, Kentucky. Surviving grandchildren: Alexander Wetherell, Taylor Wetherell, and Aaron Mahalik. George was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul Mahalik
