Janet Marian (Blair) Phillips

   Janet Marian Phillips, 93, of Portsmouth, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at her home.  She was born on February 24, 1933, in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Raymond and Gertrude Wilma Cook Blair.

   Janet graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1951 and worked for many years as secretary of First Church of God. She also worked as an operator for the former General Telephone Company and as a cashier at Sears.

   On July 12, 1953, Janet married Richard Stanley Phillips in New Boston. The couple had been married for 57 years at the time of his death on October 17, 2010.

   Surviving are two sons, Michael Joe (Debbie) Phillips of West Portsmouth, and Jeffrey Allen Phillips of Clarktown, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

   Janet was also preceded in death by a son, David Lane Phillips; and a brother, Ronald Blair.

   There are to be no services.

   Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
