Joyce Ann Farmer, 84, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born November 24, 1936, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Hallock Salyer and Anna Mae (Salyers) Salyer Puckett.
A homemaker, Joyce had also worked as a cashier at the former Sundry Stores, Hecks and Take 10. She attended Portsmouth City Schools and had proudly been one of the areas fastest female foot racers in her youth. Joyce also enjoyed playing bingo, but she dearly loved being a grandmother more than anything.
She was preceded in death on May 2, 1957, by her first husband, Donald R. Reardon. They were married in Mansfield on August 27, 1955. She married Johnny Farmer on August 20, 1970, in Mansfield and he preceded Joyce in death on September 20, 2021.
Surviving are her two children, Donald Jerome (Ellyn) Reardon of Pittston, PA and Leisa Ann Reardon Tackett of Portsmouth; a sister, Connie (James) McNeil of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Jackie (Angelina Lockhart) Tackett, Jonathan (Amy Hawkins) Tackett, Jenifer (Will) Haynes, Amanda (Joseph) Artmont, Erin (Chris) Harvey and Molly (Bob Dorsey) Reardon; three step-grandchildren, Laurie (Dave) Wilbur, Shaun (Janine) Fortney and Brian (Sheri) Fortney; 20 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and two very special friends, Jack Tackett and Patricia Reardon.
Joyce was also preceded in death by three siblings, Thomas M. Salyer, Peggy Bates and Bonnie Kennedy; and her stepfather, Haskell Puckett.
Graveside services will be held at noon, Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dennis Dawes, minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Salvation Army.
