Lucy Jean (Bennett) Caldwell

   Lucy Jean Caldwell, 90, of Portsmouth, a former Cincinnati resident, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at SOMC. She was born on February 1, 1934, in Mayslick, KY, the daughter of the late Robert Elmer and Anna Pierce Bennett, Sr.

   Lucy was a graduate of Sycamore High School in Cincinnati. She was kind-hearted and soft-spoken, and quick to feed a stranger. She will be dearly missed.

   Surviving are her children, Gwendolyn Renee Oliphant of Galloway, Timothy Ray (Rosanda) Oliphant of Portsmouth, and Jerry Lee (Melissa) Oliphant of New Boston; a sister, Anna Cole of Cincinnati; her grandchildren and their families; a her special caregiver, Ashley Trent.

   She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Caldwell; three children, Anthony, Melvin and Patricia Oliphant.

; and four siblings, Robert Jr., Charles, William and John Bennett.

   There are to be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
