Madelyn Lee (Kegley) Young

   Madelyn Lee Young, 69, of New Boston, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born August 9, 1953, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Blanche Elizabeth (Reynolds) and Ernest Eugene Kegley.

   A 1971 Portsmouth High School graduate, Madelyn was a talented artist and licensed cosmetologist. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and owned and operated her own salons for many years. She also did contract work for Matrix and Sukesha, educating others in her field.

   She is survived by her son, Richard Jay Pence of Westminster, MD; two siblings, Leroy (Jennie) Kegley of Wheelersburg and Lynn (Larry) French of Wallingford, KY; two grandchildren, Rhys and Adira Pence; nieces and nephews, Travis French, Brandy Justice, April Johnson and Laura Henson and their families.

   A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held from 4 to 6 P.M. Thursday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
