Mary Elizabeth (McGraw) Knox

   Mary Elizabeth Knox, 84, of Blue Creek, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Resthaven Health Care in McDermott. She was born on May 30, 1941, in Friendship, to the late Cecil and Adaline Jackson Evans. She was then adopted by the late Robert and Elizabeth Louise Irvin McGraw.

   Mary retired from K-Mart after working there for many years and she was a 1961 graduate of Portsmouth West High School. 

   She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Knox, in 1997.

   Surviving are three grandchildren, Kyle Knox of West Union, Misty Cooper and Jeremy Cooper, both of Portsmouth; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Liddle and Matthew (Haley) Liddle, Hailey (Colton) White, and Alexis (Chandler) Anderson; and seven great-great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Bryleigh, Easton, Aaron, Iris, Lilly and Wrenley.

   Mary was also preceded in death by her two children, Keith Todd Knox and Tina Marie Cooper; a granddaughter, Amanda Marie Cooper; several siblings, Cecil and Howard Evans,  Robert McGraw, Jr., Pauline Sissel, Bernice Newman, and Virginia “Jean” Schneller.

   Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Pete Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery.

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Thursday.
