Nancy Katherine Harness, 67, of Wheelersburg, a former Rosemount resident, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the SOMC Hospice Center surrounded by her beloved family. Nancy was born on April 18, 1956, in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late James Roy and Greta Marilyn Easley Daily.
Nancy was a homemaker who loved her family more than life itself. She enjoyed going to the beach, shopping, playing canasta, and watching her grandkids play ball or act in shows. She also enjoyed entertaining family, friends, and the neighbor kids around the pool. She rarely knew a stranger, and her infectious laugh and positivity will truly be missed.
A 1974 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Nancy soon met and married Jack Leroy Harness on April 10, 1976, at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. They were dedicated members of All Saints and the couple had been married for 45 years at the time of Jack’s death on January 22, 2022.
Surviving Nancy are her daughters, Mari Grace (Nathan) Smith of Wheelersburg and Jennifer (Eric) Mains of Lucasville; five grandchildren, Kaylee and Addison Smith, Mia, Ellie and Jack Mains; a brother, Lee (Vicki) Daily of Portsmouth; brothers-in-law, Donald (Virginia) Harness of Westerville, David (Debbie) Harness of Lucasville and Jim Cooper of McDermott; a sister-in-law, Linda Harness of Lucasville; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Nancy was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah Katherine Smith; her brother, Joseph Edwin Daily; a brother-in-law, Harold Harness; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Cooper.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at All Saints' Episcopal Church with Rev. Gene Hallahan officiating and inurnment in St. Thomas Columbarium.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
