Patty Viola (Besco) Staggs

   Patty Viola Staggs, 85, of Portsmouth, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at her home. She was born on July 10, 1939, in West Portsmouth, to the late Sherman Walburn and Myrtle Hall Besco.

   A longtime Central Church of Christ member, Patty was a talented artist who painted lovely items for friends and family.

   She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Charles Staggs. The couple was married on August 24, 1956, in Indiana.

   Also surviving are her two sons, Charles ‘Chuck’ Sherman (Melissa) Staggs and Michael ‘Mike’ Timothy Staggs, of Portsmouth; a daughter, Alice Faye (Fritz) Newman of Minford; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren

   In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Eugene Staggs; a daughter, Evelyn Kay Motes; and five siblings.

   Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. The interment will be in Scioto Burial Park.

   The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday.
