Peggy Diane (Pace) Matheny

   Peggy Diane Matheny, 72, of Wheelersburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth. She was born on June 25, 1951, in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Vearl Richman and Beatrice Ione Drake Pace.

   Diane was a 1969 graduate of Minford High School and she had attended Ambassador Bible College in London, OH. While she was primarily a devoted full-time wife, mother, and grandmother, Diane also served as bookkeeper for the family business, Steve Matheny’s Body Shop. She worshipped at Welcome Home Christian Fellowship

   Surviving is her husband, Stephen Robert  Matheny, whom she married August 1, 2000, in Wheelersburg; three sons, Nathaniel Napier of Wheelersburg, Michael Paul Matheny of Dayton and Robert Edward Lee Matheny of South Shore, KY; four siblings, Johnny (Kathy) Pace of Wheelersburg, Christine Oborne of Palm Coast, FL, Carole (Ron) Buckle of Clarktown and Cindy Jo Clements of Wheelersburg; three sisters-in-law, Sandy Pace, Sharon Pace and Jeannie Pace, all of Wheelersburg; her mother and father-in-law, Jean and John Pendland of Wheelersburg; nine grandchildren, Isaac, Lyla, Mark Anthony and Elliot Napier, Tyler, Aiden, James Thomas “JT” and Rainn Matheny and Payton Grace; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

   In addition to her parents, Diane was also preceded in death by eight siblings, James, Von, Vearl, Jr., Phillip Ray, Wayne, Mark and David Pace, and Verna Lou Stewart.

  A Memorial Service will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Welcome Home Christian Fellowship. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.

   Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
