Ronald Chester Stevens, 69, of West Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. He was born June 5, 1952 in Portsmouth, the son of the late John Chester “Chet” and Ruth Eileen Smith Stevens.
Ron retired from Laborers Local #83 and the Painters & Allied Trades Union. He was a 1970 Portsmouth High School graduate and a member and 32nd Degree Mason with the Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769. Ron was also a faithful member of Bible Chapel Church. After his love of Jesus, his greatest loves were his family, fishing and being outdoors. Ron was a people person and made friends wherever he went, and everyone he met loved him.
Surviving is his wife of 30 years, Wanda Gaye Patton Stevens. The couple married in Greenup County, KY on March 13, 1992. Also surviving are his three children, Kirstie Stevens of Bastrop, TX, and Kellie S. Craft and Jacob M. Stevens, both of Portsmouth; ten grandchildren, Michael Shelton, Desiree Ferrales, Hunter Tokarski, BriAnna, Brandon and Braylie Craft, and Laiken, Zoey, Henley and Ridley Stevens; and three great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Cooper Allen and Liam Ferrales.
In addition to his parents, Ron was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Connie Sue Lawson and Beverly Kay Stevens.
A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held at noon, Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Bible Chapel Church, 1729 Haig Ave., West Portsmouth with Rev. Jack Lore officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the service hour.
