Rusty Lee Tipton, 76, of Portsmouth, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born in Portsmouth on August 22, 1947, to the late Theodore and Helen Louise Keibler Tipton.
Rusty was a 1964 graduate of Clay High School and he held an Associate’s Degree. A Master Mason, he was a 48-year member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge. He retired from GTE/ Verizon where he had worked many years as an installer.
Rusty is survived by his wife, Karen Sue Bordenkircher Tipton, whom he married on December 2, 1997, in Gatlinburg, TN; a son, Roger Tipton, of Florida; a daughter, Lindsie Boyd, of Minford; a step-daughter, Kristin (Bryan) Sparks of Portsmouth; and several grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by his sisters, Deborah Perez and Teresa Tipton.
