Suree` Nicole Burns, 40, of Portsmouth, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at SOMC. She was born on December 14, 1985, in Portsmouth, the daughter of Lisa Marie Burns Gentry-Newton, who survives, and the late Eugene Leonard Johnson.
Suree` attended Portsmouth High School and she was a Christian. She was very active in the local recovery community, having worked at Ascend as a Resident Assistant, and at The Counseling Center.
In addition to her mother, Lisa Gentry-Newton of Powder Springs, GA, surviving are her five children, Bryson Alexander Craft, Janayah Nicole Craft, Tyson Eugene Craft, Kimora Michelle Marie Williams, and Kyrihanna Elise Williams, all of Portsmouth; two sisters, A`set Gentry of Atlanta, GA, and Kirstyn “Ali” Kleinman of Portsmouth; her paternal grandmother, Doris Ann Johnson of Portsmouth; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Johnson; a brother, Cameron Gentry; her maternal grandparents, Wilma Jean Burns and Roy Lee Burns, Sr.; her paternal grandfather, Eugene Leonard Parker; and her stepfather, Kevin Newton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2 PM at Christ’s Community Church with Apostle Bo Burns officiating.
The family will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
