Timothy Joseph Doyle, 84, of Portsmouth, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He passed away at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth with family by his side. Tim was born September 16, 1939, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Paul Lee and Mary Luella Brown Doyle.
A 1957 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Tim joined the U.S. Marine Corps following his graduation. After his time in the military, he attended Ohio University – Chillicothe and studied horticulture. For 56 years, he owned and operated Tim Doyle Landscaping, bringing beauty to many homes and businesses in southern Ohio.
Sharing the message of Jesus was Tim’s passion in life. He sent cards of encouragement and sympathy and presented crosses to hundreds of people over the years, telling them the good news of Jesus Christ.
Surviving is his wife, Marjorie Sue Queen Doyle; two sons, William Taylor (Kim) Doyle of Allen, TX and Kevin Michael Doyle of Portsmouth; a sister, Maureen “Mo” (Mike) Coburn of West Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Janet Doyle of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Tyler, Christian, Shelby, Sammy and Zachary Doyle, and Brittany Monschein; and two great-grandchildren, Braylon Paulson and Teddy Helm.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by two siblings, Mike Doyle and Pauline Doyle.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from noon to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Elder Ralph Clay officiating. There will be a Graveside Service immediately following in Soldiers Circle, Greenlawn Cemetery.
