Virginia Rickey, 87, of Lucasville, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at her home. She was born in Wheelersburg on June 6, 1937, to the late Leo and Marie Conn Crabtree.
An exceptional homemaker, wife and mother, she loved children and enjoyed watching over them when they were in her home. Virginia was of the Lutheran faith and had attended the former First Lutheran Church for many years.
On April 9, 1956, she married Lawrence Bryson Rickey in Lawrenceburg, IN. They shared 68 wonderful years together and were blessed with four children.
In addition to her beloved husband, surviving are two sons, Larry R. (Karen) Rickey of Lucasville and Edward Rickey of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Cheryl A. Lowing of Englewood, FL; four sisters, Florence B. Sargent of Portsmouth, Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Metzler of New Boston, Betty (Larry) Neff and Linda S. Shope, both of South Webster; three grandchildren, Matthew R. (Lisa) Rickey, Daniel J. Rickey and Kristin Phillips; and four great-grandchildren, Jack, Kathen, Austin and Vanessa Rickey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lawrence Rickey; and four siblings, Leo Crabtree, Jr., Bill Crabtree, Alice Horsley and Gracie Truman.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
