William "Bill" Marshall Wilburn

   William Marshall “Bill” Wilburn, 77, of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Concord Health Care in Wheelersburg. He was born January 5, 1944, in South Shore, KY to the late Morton and America Frances Salyers Wilburn.

   Bill was a former Ohio State Highway Patrolman and realtor for Sinclair Realty in Portsmouth. He had also worked as a safety inspector at Kenworth in Chillicothe. A 1962 Portsmouth High School graduate, he attended Central Church of Christ where he had served as a deacon, shared his beautiful voice in the choir, served on the Fellowship Committee and drove the church bus. Bill was an avid reader, especially of history and he was very proud to have been an Eagle Scout in his youth.

   Surviving is his wife, Sandy Newman Sinclair Wilburn; his son, Brian Alan (Teresa) Wilburn of Chillicothe; his daughter, Lori Renee (Gary) Haydel of Walbridge; a brother, Verlin Ray (Claudia) Wilburn of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Glenna Dene Wilburn and Sheila (Brian) Wolfe, all of Wheelersburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families; and his pups, Belle and Beau.

   In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by twin sons, William Morton Wilburn and Charles William Wilburn; two sisters, Wanda Jean Wilburn and Shirley Ann Valentine; and a half-brother, Donald Wilburn.

    A Memorial Service will be held in Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum at Memorial Burial Park at

1:40 P.M. Friday. The family will receive friends at Edgewood Abbey from 1 P.M. until the service hour. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.

   The family extends sincere thanks to the staffs of SOMC Hospice and the Concord Health & Rehab Center for the excellent care that Bill received and the compassion with which the family was treated.
