Maxine Horton Obituary

 

   Maxine O. Horton, 89, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018 at Portsmouth Health and Rehab. She was born in Bath County, KY on Jan.18, 1929, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Myrtle Marie Faulkner York. Maxine was a homemaker, a Baptist and a former election poll worker. Preceding her in death Jun. 20, 2018 was her husband, William Newell “Newt” Horton whom she married in Greenup, KY on Sept. 11, 1962.

   Maxine is survived by her son; William R. (Kerin) Horton of Bedford, PA; her daughter, Phyllis Frye of Sandusky and two granddaughters, Amanda Horton and Ashley Gallimore. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Roy E. York, David L. York, Harry V. York, Paul W. York, Ronald P. York, Carroll E. York and three sisters, Ruth Lewis, Betty I. Kleinke and Mary L. York.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 PM at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with the Rev. Evan Fisher officiating followed by interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 AM until the funeral hour.
