Douglas Lee Davis, 70, of, Lucasville, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021, at his home. He was born November 24, 1950, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Woodrow Leon and Jean Ann Scott Davis.
Doug retired from USEC where he worked for 33 years as a D & I Operator. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 and he attended Pleasant Valley Community of Christ. A former Northwest Local School District Board Member, Doug had also been a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He loved football and had coached for many years. A 1968 Northwest High School graduate, Doug had also studied English/Education at Ohio University Portsmouth.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra Kay Skidmore Davis, whom he married August 28, 2013, at their home in Lucasville; two sons, Dan (Misty) Skidmore of Whittier, NC and Chad (Terri) Burton of Cherokee, NC; a daughter, Tina (Nathan West) Burton of Whittier, NC; two brothers, David Leon (Sharon) Davis of Lucasville and Jack Eugene Davis of Mansfield; three sisters, Patricia Jean (Frank) Cable of Monroe, GA, Nancy Sue (John) McGauley of Ft. Wayne, IN and Carolyn Ruth (Donald) Hobbs of Lucasville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and their families.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday at 1 P.M. with the Rev. Frances Newman officiating at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour. The service will be available via Live Stream on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
Masks are required for attendance and will be not be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to the American Red Cross.
