Louella Belle Staker, 88, of Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Rosemount Pavilion. Born June 18, 1933 in Flint, MI, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Jeanette Like. She was reared by her maternal grandparents, the late Ernest and Louella Like.
Louella was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she had been a choir member and had always assisted with bereavement meals. She had retired after working as a bookkeeper for Staker’s Sales and Service and previously for Mortz Ohio Systems & Tax Service. She was a graduate of the former Portsmouth Interstate Business College and Minford High School in the Class of 1951.
She was preceded in death March 5, 2019, by her husband of 61 years, Robert H. Staker, Sr. The couple was married December 1, 1957 in Portsmouth.
Surviving are her four children, Drs. Rebecca (Martin) Staker-Appleton of Proctorville, Martha (William) Kirk of Ironton, Robert “Bob” (Debra) Staker, Jr. and Phil Staker, all of Portsmouth, three grandchildren, Tyler (Rylie) Staker, Samuel Appleton and Rebecca Ann Kirk; three great-grandchildren, Piper, Wyatt and Magnus Staker; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families; a special friend, Dr. James Kiourtsis; special friends, Debbie VanHoose and Becky Howard and her beloved granddog, Waylon.
The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Arrick, the staff of Rosemount Pavilion and April Widdig of Alternative Nursing and Home Care.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. John Gowdy officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 P.M. and Saturday from 9 to 10 A.M.
