William "Bill" Roger Thacker

William Roger “Bill” Thacker Jr. of Mason passed away in Caldwell, Ohio at the age of 52. He was born August 2, 1970 in Portsmouth, a son of William R. Thacker Sr., who survives, and the late Diana Lee Vinson Michael.

Bill graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1988. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master’s Degree in Statistics, both from Ohio University. A self-employed Information Technology Consultant, he had formerly worked for Microsoft for more than 10 years. Bill was of the Episcopal faith, having formerly attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Portsmouth.

Surviving are his two children, Emma Kathryn Thacker and Brett Alexander Thacker of Mason; his father and step-mother, William Roger (Betty) Thacker Sr. of New Boston; his step-father, Peter C. (Kathy) Michael of Westfield, IN; two brothers, John M. Thacker of Hamilton and Geoff (Aliyah) Thacker of Athens; one nephew, Leland Thacker; and two step-sisters, Jamie (TR) Hensley and Krista (Roger) Cable.

His mother, Diana Lee Michael, preceded him in death April 28, 2015. His nephew, John "Johnny" Michael Thacker II, preceded him in death March 3, 2014. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy Mae and Clarence Vinson; and Herschel and Elsie Thacker.

A private memorial service will be held with inurnment in St. Thomas Columbarium at All Saints Episcopal Church under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to support mental health services in Bill's hometown of Portsmouth, Ohio. Donations can be made to CAO of Scioto County with a specification for mental health services to Community Action Organization, P.O. Box 1525, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
